The first ever solar-powered helicopter (Solarcopter) was designed and built at QMUL as a proof of concept. Current effort is geared towards enhancing the robustness of the system for improved energy management and flight controls. Our aim is to build systems capable of handling the disturbances and uncertainties associated with real world outdoor environment, and achieve extended stable flight.<\/p>\n<p>The surgical robotics group is working on master-slave surgical robots as well as capsule robot for minimally invasive procedures such as gastro-intestinal tract screening. Current surgical robots are both massive and expensive.
