And in the metropolitan area, which includes S\u00e3o Jose, Palho\u00e7a, and Bigua\u00e7u, there are about 1.3 million inhabitants. Floripa\u2019s economy is heavily based on information technology, tourism and the service industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its natural beauty, fishing, folklore, traditions, artisanal handmade lace, cuisine and colonial architecture are just a few of the areas that contribute to the culture here.
