Call for Contributions:
Robotics and AI are developing at an incredible speed and being incorporated into the very fabric of human reality to the point that the physical and the digital domains completely overlap. However, these applications are still far from perfect, and it is essential that we not only overcome challenging functional limitations but also ensure that the design, implementation and operations of systems are reliable, safe, and ethical. That is why the International Conference on Robot Ethics and Standards conference provides a multidisciplinary forum for discussing the fundamental and pressing safety, ethical, legal, and societal issues within the field of artificial intelligence and robotics.
ICRES 2026 will be the eleventh edition of the conference and will be held at Cranfield University, UK, over two days 17–18 September, 2026 (immediately following the Climbing and Walking Robots (CLAWAR) conference to be held 14-16 September). We are inviting contributions to the ICRES programme in the form of full papers (up to 12 pages), posters and extended abstracts (up to 2 pages) and may address any relevant topic related to robot ethics and standards, such as those in the following non-exhaustive list:
- Ethical principles, guidelines and policies
- Autonomy: transparency, accountability and liability
- Privacy and management of personal data
- AI technology to block unethical/mendacious social-media communication
- Embedding values and norms in intelligent systems
- Raising ethical awareness among stakeholders
- Formal and mathematical frameworks for robot ethics
- Cognitive robotics
- Effective systems integration
- Issues of trust and acceptance
- Human Factors and user-centred design
- Emotion in robot design
- Embodied intelligence: when robotics and AI merge
- Political and legal frameworks
- National and international standards
