International Conference on Robot Ethics and Safety Standards
We are pleased to inform you that the International Conference on Robot Ethics and Standards (ICRES 2018) will be held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York on August 20 and 21 of 2018. ICRES aims to provide a multidisciplinary forum for discussing the fundamental and pressing safety, ethical, legal and societal issues in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Following the International Conference on Robot Ethics (ICRE 2015) and the International Conference on Robot Ethics and Safety Standards (ICRESS 2017), the third iteration in the conference series will discuss ethical and safety concerns in AI and robotic systems (not limited to physical robots). We invite full papers, posters, and extended abstracts:
Conference topics include but are not limited to the following:
- Autonomy and liability
- Ethical principles in robotics
- Defining ethical guidelines for the design, use, and operation of robots
- Enhancement technologies: ethical issues
- Privacy and the management of personal data
- Ethical frameworks: universal or region specific?
- What does “safety” stand for in robotic systems?
- Safety standards in robotics – scope and key definitions
- The role of industry and society in the definition of safety standards
- Legal frameworks: the main topics to be addressed by legislators
Prospective authors are invited to submit original papers by the 20 May 2018. The papers accepted will be presented at ICRES 2018 conference and a selection of the best papers will be published by Springer.
IMPORTANT DEADLINES:
Submission of initial papers: May 20, 2018 (extended)
Notification of paper acceptance: June 22, 2018
Final camera-ready papers due: July 21, 2018
Preliminary program: August 1, 2018
