Special Issue of Emerald Insight Industrial Robot Journal on “Real-world mobile robot systems”
We invite all the participants of CLAWAR 2016 to consider extending their work presented in the conference to a high-quality journal article for the follow up Special Issue in Industrial Robot Journal.
One of the most important features for a robot system working in a real-world application is mobility. Mobile robots should be intelligent systems capable of a multitude of tasks while navigating either in indoor or outdoor environments. The majority of the challenges and issues in mobile robotics arise from the uncertainties involved in sensing and acting in unstructured and unpredictable real-world environments. Tomorrow’s mobile robotics systems should be able to understand and operate effectively in such environments, address safe interaction with humans and adapt their behaviour autonomously.
This goal of this special issue is to document and highlight recent real-world applications of mobile robot systems in a broad variety of sectors. In the recent years, various interesting methods and approaches have been proposed that tackle different aspects of mobile robotics. This journal special issue will therefore present the state-of-the-art in the field and discuss future challenges and research opportunities.
