Panama City is a modern and cosmopolitan City located on the centre on the continent of the Americas. Panama is world-famous for its 77 km canal that connects the Pacific Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean. Each year, over a million people visit the canal and are able to witness this engineering marvel at work. Panama is very proud to have this magnificent creation operating 365 days a year, enabling the world’s cargo to be shipped efficiently and safely to new destinations.

Airport Transfer

If travelling by plane, there are two ways to get to the city centre (hotel or UTP), by taxi or bus (Metro Bus).

Taxi

Taxis are available 24 hours a day from outside Arrivals.Taxi service to the Panama City centre should cost about 30 USD and take between 25 and 40 minutes (depending on the traffic).

Metro Bus

There is a Metro Bus (bus) connection to the city centre (route Tocumen-Corredor Sur). A single fare of 0.25 USD. The bus stop is outside of the airport and take between 50 minutes and 1:30 hour.

The users must purchase a prepaid card before leaving the airport.  This prepaid card is valid to use the Metro Bus in other routes of the Panama City.

Metro

In Panama there is only one line of metro, but it has not been connected to the airport. The Metro operates seven days a week and 365 days a year: Monday-Saturday 05:00-22:00 and on Sunday and holidays 07:00-22:00. It has 14 metro stations.

The single fare is 0.35 USD, which is paid by means of a prepaid card, such as:

Metro, MetroBus (the same as the Metro Bus) or RapiPass.

Getting to UTP

UTP is located in the north part of the Panama City (but within the city),  to the one side of the Camino de Cruces National Park. It is recommendable to access it by taxi or by means of Uber company vehicles.

The Local Organization Committee of the UTP will make available to the participants some buses to mobilize them from some strategic points (e.g., hotels) toward the UTP, and vice versa.
