The Laboratory for Automation and Monitoring of Systems and High Technology Industrial Processes (FORTUNA) develops solutions for the industrial sectors in Panama and, besides, it carries out training for the new research people in this field. The main research topics developed in this lab are:
- Humanoid robotics
- Mobile robots
- Robotics and artificial vision for aquatic environments
- Railway engineering
- Applied automation

The Laboratory of Structural Mechanics for building industry is very important in Panama because this country is the pioneer in Latin America in the construction of skyscrapers. Besides, it provides new solutions in the fabrication of new structures using new materials. The main research topics developed are:

- Civil engineering failure analysis
